CHICAGO STYLE Shrimp Tacos



Seared shrimp tacos with crunchy red cabbage, avocado, and a spicy lime crema, finished with Salty Provisions' CHICAGO STYLE Flaky Sea Salt Blend.

Ingredients:

For the Shrimp

1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined

1 ½ tbsp olive oil

1 tsp smoked paprika or chili powder

1 ½ tsp CHICAGO STYLE Flaky Sea Salt Blend

For the Crema

¼ cup sour cream

2 tbsp mayonnaise

Juice of 1 lime

¼ tsp CHICAGO STYLE Flaky Sea Salt Blend

1 ½ tsp sriracha

Splash of milk or water, to thin (optional)

For the Tacos

6 small flour tortillas

1 cup shredded red cabbage

1 ripe avocado, diced

¼ cup thinly sliced red onion

1 lime, cut into wedges, for serving

CHICAGO STYLE Flaky Sea Salt Blend, for topping


Instructions:

1. Prepare the Shrimp

  • Season the shrimp: Pat the 1 pounds shrimp, peeled and deveined dry and add to a bowl. Sprinkle with 1 teaspoons smoked paprika or chili powder and 1.5 teaspoons CHICAGO STYLE Flaky Sea Salt Blend, for the shrimp, then toss until evenly coated.

    Sear the shrimp: Heat 1.5 tablespoons olive oil in a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp in a single layer and sear until pink, opaque, and lightly charred at the edges, about 3 minute per side. Transfer to a plate.
 
 

2.Make the Crema

  1.  In a small bowl, whisk together 0.3 cups sour cream2 tablespoons mayonnaise, juice from 2 limes, for juicing and wedges0.3 teaspoons CHICAGO STYLE Flaky Sea Salt Blend and 1.5 teaspoons sriracha until smooth. Thin with a splash of milk or water if it's too thick.
 

3. Finish & Serve

  1. Warm the tortillas: In the same skillet (off heat or over low), warm the 6 small flour tortillas about 30 seconds per side until pliable and lightly toasted.

    Assemble the tacos: Spoon a little crema onto each warm tortilla, then layer on the 1 cups shredded red cabbage, 1 ripe avocado, diced, and seared shrimp. Top with 0.3 cups red onion, thinly sliced and another drizzle of crema.

    Finish and serve: Sprinkle  with 0.5 teaspoons CHICAGO STYLE Flaky Sea Salt Blend, for topping and serve right away with the remaining lime wedges from 2 limes, for juicing and wedges.
