A Simple Basil Pesto for Everyday Cooking

 Built on Proportion, Not Complexity

Some recipes earn a permanent place in your kitchen. This simple basil pesto is one of them. It’s the kind of sauce you make once and reach for again and again — to layer flavor, bring balance, and quietly elevate whatever you’re cooking.

Made with fresh basil, olive oil, parmesan, and garlic, this pesto is bold without being overpowering. It’s designed to work across dishes and seasons, whether spooned over a galette, stirred into pasta, or served alongside bread as a finishing touch.

Why This Pesto Works

Good pesto isn’t complicated — it’s about proportion and restraint. Each ingredient has a role, and none of them compete.

  • Basil brings herbal depth and aroma
  • Parmesan adds savory richness
  • Pine nuts create body and subtle sweetness
  • Olive oil ties everything together
  • Garlic adds warmth without sharpness

The result is a balanced, versatile sauce that enhances rather than overwhelms.

How to Use It

This pesto is meant to be flexible. A small spoonful goes a long way.

  • Spread beneath a galette or flatbread
  • Toss with warm pasta or grains
  • Spoon over roasted vegetables or potatoes
  • Serve with bread or crackers
  • Swirl into soups or sauces just before serving

From Our Kitchen

Think of this pesto as a supporting player — not the star of the plate, but the element that brings everything into focus. Keep it simple, use it intentionally, and let it do its job.

Stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator, it will keep for several days. For best color and flavor, add a thin layer of olive oil on top before sealing.
