"Do you have Black Salt?" "Yes, we do...but not THAT Black Salt." Our Black Salt is made with Flaky Norwegian Sea Salt and activated charcoal. It more closely resembles a Black Volcanic Salt typically found in Hawaii or Iceland.
The more exotic Black Salt is called Kala Namak, and is a rare Indian Mineral Salt. It is made from kiln roasted Himalayan salt rocks that are cooked until they are such a dark purple, they almost appear black, hence the name. When they are ground, the salt more closely resemble a pinkish color. The strong flavor of sulphur presents during the roasting process, hence, it has an eggy taste.
